At one of our Wednesday night outreaches last month Pastor Cody spoke on baptism and one of the homeless people in the park, Irene, told Pastor Cody that she wanted to be baptized. So we told her to be at the park the following Sunday morning and we would pick her up, take her to church with us and Pastor Cody would baptize her.
Well, she was there waiting for us at the park on Sunday morning and was very excited about being baptized.
Pastor Cody baptized her and we purchased a bible at church for her. After church, on our way back to the park, we just couldn’t seem to picture her staying at the park; so we took her to spend the night at one of the halfway houses we support.
The next morning, after picking her up, we took her to the Hoving Home (a woman’s recovery home) and she has been there ever since. The woman in charge of the home said: “We love her; she is priceless!!!”
We ask you to pray for her, that she would prosper at the home and end up becoming one of the home’s successes! And then get out on her own, find a job and become a productive member of society!
Every year Broken Chains takes the month of July off; so that all our dedicated volunteers can have some personal time off. Plus it is hot, hot, hot in Las Vegas in July!!
Everyone is invited to attend our weekly Bible study and BBQ. It is held at Myron Levitt Park (the old JC Park) on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. The park is just north of the intersection of Eastern Avenue & Sahara Avenue. If you would like more details including a Google map, please visit our website contact page. Come and join us any Wednesday!
