Broken Chains Ministry

Monthly Newsletter – April 2019

A Ford Transit Van has been donated to Broken Chains!!

We want to thank one of our sponsors for donating a beautiful Ford Transit van to Broken Chains. Our old van was breaking down regularly and was not dependable; so it is truly a blessing to have a vehicle that we can depend on, and has heat and air conditioning!!!!

Thanks to our sponsor for their generosity to the ministry. It is truly appreciated and will be lovingly cared for. It will seat 15 people; actually, we have removed a few of the back seats so that we can load food, etc. for our Wednesday outreaches.

Again, thanks to our sponsors for their concern for the ministry; and their wonderful gift!!!

Other Highlights

Thank You to Impact Companies, Pastor Magdi Shaker, Kevin Chapman & his father Morris Chapman, Brenda Asiedu and Judy & Charles Hopkins for cooking for the ministry outreaches.

Thank you to Impact Companies, Pastor Magdi & Evone Shaker, Kevin Chapman & his father Morris, Brenda Asiedu and Judy & Charles Hopkins for cooking for our Wednesday outreaches during the months of February & March. You guys are truly awesome!!! And the meals are fit for a ‘king’!! The homeless don’t know how lucky they are!!

Celebration of Life for Janie Bermudez

At our Wednesday Night Outreach on March 20th, we held a Celebration of Life for Janie Bermudez. We give everyone balloons to write messages on and then we release them.

She, along with her daughter Elizabeth, was a dedicated volunteer at Broken Chains for 5-6 years and we all loved her dearly.

She passed away on March 15th due to renal failure. Please pray for her family and friends that they will have peace and comfort knowing that Janie is in heaven with Jesus.

Update on our “2 Lunch Tuesday” program

Our 2 Lunch Tuesday program has been an overwhelming success this year. Last month we collected 3800 lunches bringing our current school year total to 28,528 lunches.

All of these lunches go to the homeless on the street, halfway houses, veterans & the less fortunate in our city. And they are all delivered the same day that they are picked up.

We want to thank all of the volunteers who go around and pick up these lunches. Thanks to Kevin Harris, Kevin Chapman, Ray Pritchett, Tony Essy & Jeff Bland!

Other Key Events That Happened This Last Month

  • Michelle, along with her 6-month-old baby, Leta, are doing great in the halfway house!!
  • We want to thank all of our faithful volunteers & sponsors; without them, we would not be able to operate.
  • We also want to thank all of those who financially support the ministry; again we would not be able to do what we do without these individuals.
